We are supposed to be grateful for whatever we get in return and sometimes we forget that we actually deserve better. In fact, self love is the most empowering. It should be ingrained in every relationship. Do what you need to do and say what you need to say without vexation or anger (just get it off your chest)and then let things take its own course whatever they may be.
